Culture and Class in Maryland: Unique Wedding Venues to Capture Your Heart

Choosing the Right Venue

Choosing the right venue for your special day can be a difficult and stressful decision. Country or city? Hotel or Estate? Large or small? Classic or modern style? Of course, many of these decisions can be made a little easier once you have an idea of the size and type of your guest list (i.e are there lots of people coming who are unable to drive?). In addition, looking at you both as a couple is another way of deciding on a venue: do we prefer a vintage or clean look? Do we want a large wedding with everyone who is important in our lives or just a ceremony and day with those who really, really count in our lives? Once you have made these decisions it can be a whole lot easier to choose the right location. The following venues have been chosen for the couple who enjoy culture, love beautiful settings and can be seen as a couple who are a bit different, a little bit unusual. The following venues will wow your guests in a positive way and will keep them talking about your wedding for years to come.

Impressive and Learned Wedding Venues

Lord Peabody Library (17 East Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD 21202) is both extremely beautiful and an unusual wedding venue. During working hours, it is a research library adding to our knowledge of the world for mankind and during the evening it becomes a haunting and serene wedding venue. With ancient manuscripts for your guests to look at, there will never be a dull moment during your wedding! Apart from the sheer beauty of this venue, one of the aspects which makes it appealing is that it has lots of different sizes of rooms which means that it is great for both large parties and small parties. Of course, the staff at this venue are also excellent. They appreciate that the library has an air of class and have chosen a menu to complement this. With cocktails and hors d’oeuvres arriving before dinner, this venue will be able to make your guests feel special.

Class in the Country

Historic Oakland (historicoakland.com) (5430 Vantage Point Road, Columbia, MD 21045) is another divine venue which will have your guests speechless (but not for too long!).  This venue is a classic period building with antiques, large and open stairways, leafy serene gardens and beauty at every turn. How could you go wrong? This venue exudes space and freedom. Your guests can wander about the beautiful grounds, taking in the nature and the feel of the countryside or explore inside and examine antiques and beautiful artifacts. In addition, this venue also have space for up to two hundred people so if you are looking to have a large or indeed a small party, this venue is the one for you. Furthermore, this venue also gives your the chance to organize and choose your own caterer: so whether you have a specific caterer in mind or you want to choose the food which your guests eat, this venue is the one for you.

A Touch from History

Evergreen Museum & Library (museums.jhu.edu) (4545 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21210) is a venue which certainly stands apart from your average golf club or hotel wedding. This venue is for people who are interested in something different, exciting and interesting. Just ten minutes from Baltimore’s inner harbor, this venue is perfect if you don’t want your guests to have to organize the hassle of driving: they can just turn up in a taxi and not have to worry about parking or organizing lifts home. This venue particularly stands apart because it is simply exquisite: dating from the nineteenth century, it is a gilded age estate and certainly lives up to its’ name. If that wasn’t enough it is now a museum and library which will give your guests plenty to discuss and talk about.

Contemporary with a Touch of the Past

The Walters Art Museum (thewalters.org(600 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201) is the venue for you if either you or your partner and indeed your guests appreciate art. This venue is possibly one of the most arresting in the whole of the Maryland state for that reason. It has a fabulous collection of art from ancient Egypt to important and impressive modern art which will have your guests fascinated throughout the entire evening. This venue also takes into consideration of the type of guests who will want to be married here: those with individual taste and style. Therefore, you are given the opportunity to have exactly what you want at your particular wedding regards seating arrangements and catering. They of course will have suggestions and they even have a recommended catering list to make those decisions easier, but you have the freedom to decide. These four wedding venues will have your guests impressed with your choice, class and taste and will have them discussing your wedding with others and each other for years to come!
