Embassy Suites Springfield

Hotels are very popular Fairfax County wedding venues.  As one of the best hotels in the area, this impressive hotel is ideal for wedding ceremonies, receptions and other memorable events. With a LEED certification, this outstanding hotel stands in Springfield business district and is situated nearby many military and government agencies, namely, National Geo-spatial Intelligence Agency and Fort Belvoir. The hotel also provides free shuttle service to all its guests. This stunning hotel is not only situated close to some DC attractions but also to the US Capitol.

A standard 2-room suite in this hotel is enough for the guests to feel comfortable. Whether you are on a business trip or going on a vacation, this hotel has the best of everything for you. Each suite is equipped with 40-inch HDTV, kitchenette, mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, WiFi and has a separate space for impromptu meetings or other indoor leisure activities. Woodlawn

This famous 2,000 Fairfax County attraction was formerly a wedding present of George Washington to the granddaughter of his wife and his wife’s granddaughter’s husband, who was also his nephew, namely, Eleanor Custis and Major Lawrence Lewis, respectively. The design was created by the US Capitol’s first architect, Dr. William Thornton. Aside from the spacious rooms, the mansion is surrounded with well-manicured lawns and gardens.  The mansion became a house museum in 1949. It is filled with very lovely furnishings which include memorabilia of Eleanor Custis Lewis’ childhood and her years in this elegant mansion. Sully Historic Site

This historic site can make an excellent backdrop for rustic engagement photos and wedding pictures. Richard Bland Lee and Elizabeth Collins Lee lived in this house from 1794 to 1811.  A well-known northern Virginia political figure, Richard Lee was Robert E. Lee’s uncle. During the time of Lee, the skilled artisans, domestics and field laborers were composed of African Americans. With Federal and Georgian architectural styles, this site also contains some antiques from the Federal period. Additionally, an 18th-century stone dairy, smokehouse, kitchen-laundry and slave quarter can also be seen in this historic house.

Workhouse Arts Center

An excellent location for graduation photos which include students of arts or for wedding portraits that include artists, this center does not only provide performing and visual arts exhibition and studio space but also offers entertaining arts education training for different people with different artistic abilities. The Arts Center has over 150 professional artists and budding artists. Also, there are event facilities, gallery space, theater and performance venues and cooperative studios located in the Arts Center.

Lake Fairfax Park 

Park lovers will indeed be enamored of the beauty of this Fairfax County park. This provides excellent opportunities for creating wonderful views and backdrop for engagement or wedding photos or family portraits. This stunning park opens daily from dawn until dusk. With features that include a skatepark, trails, campgrounds, a playground, picnic areas, picnic shelters, carousel, boat rentals and a waterpark, the park definitely provides fun and excitement for every guest. Gunston Hall

This historic hall was the residence of the late Virginia Declaration of Rights author and US Constitution framer George Mason. This 550 acre estate vividly reflects the life of this US patriot. The mansion overlooking the beautiful Potomac River is an excellent representation of a Georgian architecture. Visitors to the hall can buy some souvenirs sold at the shop, which has an aim to educate its visitors about the 18th-century Virginian life. The souvenirs include toys, food, soap, gift items and books. The books are particularly about Gunston Hall, George Mason and the life in Virginia during the 18th century. The hall holds many special events, symposia and scholarly lectures as well. This historic site makes an awesome backdrop for graduation photos which include students of politics or history. Mount Vernon

Because it was the US 1st President’s home, Mount Vernon is very well known throughout the country. A representation of a Palladian-style structure, the mansion was built in stages from 1775 to 1778. Washington had lived in this mansion all his life until he died in 1799. Mount Vernon opens all-year round. Since it was first opened for viewing in 1860, Mount Vernon has been visited by more than 80 million individuals and today, it welcomes about 1 million guests on average every year. The main attraction of this historical site is the mansion itself and other historical structures, including a memorial for the enslaved individuals who resided and served on this historical estate. The Washington’s Tomb, where the remains of George Washington and his wife Martha Washington lie, is also located on this grand estate. There are also dining facilities and gift shops for the visitors. All in all, Mount Vernon is operated by more than 400 volunteers and more than 500 paid workers. A very important location in American history, Mount Vernon offers an ideal setting for graduation photos, wedding photography or any important conferences and meetings.

Frying Pan Park

This beautiful park offers attractions that are both recreational and historic in nature. This park reflects the landscape, rural life, agricultural process and farm in the 1920s to 1950s. In fact, it keeps many animals that include horses and cows. The park operates from dawn until dusk and opens daily. In addition to offering beginner’s horseback riding programs, the park Activities Center is home to numerous equestrian events that are held all-year round. Aside from having a 4-H club, this interesting park features 2 outside rings and an indoor arena. The park also features a jam that is held at the Country Store every 1st Sunday and 3rd Sunday of each month. The jam usually starts from 1 pm and ends at 4 pm. The visitors will get to hear country and bluegrass music that are usually played on acoustic instruments. With scenic views, this lovely farm park will absolutely make a perfect backdrop for rustic-style wedding photography or engagement pictures.

Reston Zoo

This 30 acre zoo is frequented mostly by families. You will definitely capture the laughter and joy everyone shares as they watch all the animals. With a wide selection of animals surrounding them, the guests especially the kids are quite amazed at what they see. The guests can ride on the safari wagon and feed the zebras, watusis, ostriches, bisons, antelopes and camels. What an amazing time to take pictures of different animals! The feeding session however does not end here as the visitors can also feed other animals such as llamas, pigs, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, goats, lambs, sheep and other young animal at the interesting Petting Barn area in the zoo. For those who would like to see some reptiles, the zoo also features a certain section for alligators and reptiles.
